85% of the population will suffer debilitating back pain or a repetitive stress injury. (OSHA 2002 Report)
Health
Focus is dedicated to decreasing the risk of injury both at home and at
work. As part of our featured services, we offer a community education
program for local businesses. The program focuses on educating local
business' employees on how to prevent and avoid work-related injuries.
Each workshop is an interactive talk, which takes into account the
unique needs of each business and setting.
The objective of
this workshop is to provide participants with commonsense approaches to
injury prevention. It gives employees the opportunitiy to have a quick
and general evaluation of their own posture, behaviors, work
environments, and homes and apply these practical techniques to mitigate
dangers to their musculoskeletal system. It discusses workplace safety
and comfort, placing an emphasis on the prevention of repetitve stress
and lifting injuries of the lower back. We also offer complimentary
chair massages as part of the program, done by one of our liscenced
massage therapists.
Information gained by employees includes
proper lifting techniques, OSHA-approved stretches that help strengthen
weak spots and relax tense areas, tips to lower and control blood
pressure and cholesterol, relaxation techniques to help keep stress
levels down, and ways to prevent and/or alleviate problems and behaviors
that may lead to future injuries.
Participants' use and
practice of these newly learned techniques will ultimately lessen the
incidence of home and work related injuries, thus reducing worker's
compensation costs and employee absenteeism. Participants will gain a
command of practical injury prevention and back safety, and will be able
to apply this information across all of their activities of daily
living--helping lead your team of employees to becoming a healthier
staff!
