condition and bring your range of motion to a functional status. We use
moist heat, cryotherapy, electro-muscle stimulation, ultrasound,
traction, trigger point therapy, and therapeutic injections.
Our staff maintains the highest quality of care through physical
therapy and careful examination procedures. Patients are helped with
treatment plans and medication to reduce pain, increase range of motion,
and improve activities of daily living. Whether you have common knee
and ankle injuries from such sports as running or tennis, or you suffer
from non-traditional injuries from extreme sports like wake boarding and
mountain biking, we are fully equipped to help you heal quickly and
properly.
There are many different forms of physical therapy. Acutely, the
therapist may focus on decreasing pain with passive physical therapy
(modalities). These are considered passive therapies because they are
done to the patient. Examples of passive modalities include:
- Cryotherapy
- Electric Stimulation
- Flexion Distraction
- Intersegmental Traction
- Micro-current
- Superficial Heat
- Ultrasound
In addition to passive therapies, active physical therapy (exercise)
is also necessary to rehabilitate the spine. Generally, a patient's
exercise program should encompass a combination of the following:
- Stretching
- Strengthening/pain relief exercises
- Physioballs Therabands
- Free Weights
- Low-impact aerobic conditioning
Even patients with a very busy schedule should be able to maintain a
moderate exercise regimen that encompasses stretching, strengthening,
and aerobic conditioning.
